And regarding the compilation cartridge I may buy, there was a conversation about it a couple years ago if cartridge compilations like Sega 6-Pak and Triple Score need their own variations, but it was determined they very most likely use the original roms and are no different than a multi-rom cart.
I've been playing Columns on 6-Pak.
So it makes sense the genesis compilation carts don't need their own variation, unlike the CD based compilations on newer systems that can slightly differ from arcade or system to system.

Nice. Wish I still had my copy.
Looking on eBay I might go with Sonic Classic Collection cartridge with Sonic 1, 2, and Mean Bean. It's a couple bucks cheaper and I've been meaning to get Sonic 2 again as well.
So I plan to play this on original hardware in the near future 😉.
