I just re read your reply. I live in the states so my ps1 I believe is 60hz without mods. But that's cool they can be modded to if from Euro regions. 60 hz at 60 fps is beauty

The 60fps disc is nice. It's definitely a smoother look to it. It also comes with a demo of the original 30fps game on the same disc to compare, but only 1 car and 1 stage. But the 60fps game is the full game with all cars and tracks in 60fps. And the billboards in the game advertise R4. The disc is called Ridge Racer Turbo Mode. But it's not really any faster, just smoother. It's nice to see 60fps on ps1, it makes it even closer to the arcade.

Yeah, the advantage of a modded PS1 is that you play in 60Hz :)
The hardware itself can do both. I believe it was the first generation of consoles that can do that without changing internal crystal etc for that.

I spoke too soon. Just booted it up. It's only the 1st stage and no car select :( .. must be there just to compare to the 60fps ver... but I plan on picking it up sometime. the original Ridge Racer is boss

I just realized the bonus disc that came with my R4 doesn't just include a 60fps demo but it also includes the original "less than 60fps" full game. So I'm going to work at beating your times ;)
