I don't do racing games much either, but this one drew me in. It's great for a quick play for those short of time to play. It's relatively simple in gameplay terms and yet very satisfying to play. These guys nailed the concept.

It's got a good old time feel to it, while looking modern and retro at the same time. You can feel the ancestry all the way back to Pole Position, but it feels fresh too.
