Bandits is a 1982 game for the Apple II released by Sirius Software. It was written Tony Ngo and Benny Ngo. It was inspired by the little known 1980 arcade game Stratovox, where alien ships kidnap astronauts from the right side of the screen. In this home version, the bandits are kidnapping fruit from your lunar supply base.

Playing this game was inspired by a Youtube video from Retro Recipes, where host Perifractic tracks down a copy Bandits for the Apple II as it was the first game he remembers buying. The video follows his nostalgia trip as he plays the game on a real Apple II in his collection. You can watch the video here:

My run was made on PC using the AppleWin emulator. The date of the run was the 15th January 2022 and the score reached was 11,215.

The control of your ship is a little difficult. As your craft moves left and right, movement is not smooth and it seems to stop for no reason. This can get you killed easily. I don't know if this was in the original game, or is an emulator problem. You have to adjust your method of control to compensate, but apart from this quirk, it is a game typical of it's time and I enjoyed my time with it.
