Creepie Crawlie is a public domain arcade game for the Acorn Archimedes by Mark Johnson. According to the in-game banner, it was written in 1990. A 1995 game for the Archimedes called Cyber Ape was also written by a Mark Johnson, but I don't know if this is the same person.
Creepie Crawlie is a standard Snake variant - collect the Acorns and avoid the Fungi and walls - and yourself! The graphics are nicely done, with some effective shading on objects, but there is nothing really stand out about this game and I don't think it was written with any intention to be groundbreaking - it was completed in a small number of days according to the game itself. Gameplay is challenging, this game is quite fast and turns require firm key inputs to be guaranteed to be registered. There are bonus lives and points to be picked up and each level ends when all the acorns are collected. Probably the most stand-out aspect is the sound, with Sound Tracker support giving a Mission Impossible theme along with laughs and anguished cries.
This run was made on the 7th June 2026 using the Arculator emulator on PC as an A3010. There are no level selections and the final score was 11,680 points.
