Bloxed is a Tetris game based on the 1989 Sega Tetris-like game, Bloxeed. It was written and self-released online by Steven Singer in 1992. It runs on the Acorn Archimedes family of computers.
Bloxed (and the arcade game Bloxeed) closely follow the gameplay of Tetris. What Bloxed adds is some additional features in the form of 'Power Blocks'. If these are cleared in normal play, a special feature is enabled. These are:
4 - Up to four alternate rows of the stack are cleared.
16 - A 16 tonne metal block crushes three columns completely.
B - A giant bomb descends, destroying a circular section of blocks.
F - A small alien appears that can shoot blocks below as it falls. This can be used to fill awkward gaps that the normal shapes struggle to fill.
S - What looks like an upside-down Champagne bottle fires shots that clear blocks.
Graphically and sonically, the game is simple, but perfectly so for a Tetris game. A series of images are rotated in the background, but you'll be much too engaged in the gameplay to pay them much attention. Gameplay is exactly what you would expect, and I had no problems with the controls. Single player or two player competitive modes are offered. Overall, this is a nice development of the Tetris formula for the Archimedes.
This run was made on the 17th May 2026 using the Arculator emulator on PC as an A3010, and a single player game was selected. There are no skill levels, and the final score was 471 points.
