3D Munch is an arcade game based on the Pacman concept, for the Oric 48K. It was released by Loriciels in 1985. The author is Laurent Benes (who went on to work on many platforms and games well into the 2000's such as SimCity and Dead Space).

This Pacman variant is set in a maze with a first person perspective. You need to negotiate the maze and have to eat over 200 pills that are spread throughout the labyrinth. Unfortunately, the maze is also inhabited by some cute, but deadly, monsters. Contact with these is fatal. There are power pills hidden in the maze which give you a brief period where you can eat the monsters, and you may come across a strawberry that is worth bonus points. A radar shows the location of yourself and the monsters, but it does not show the layout of the maze or the position of uneaten pills. An arrow indicates which way you are facing, which is useful.

This is an interesting game. Technically, it is very good as the maze is drawn quickly for an Oric and allows this game to played at a proper arcade pace. This shows a level of programming skill that was not always seen on the Oric. As a game though, it is very difficult. Although the radar is very helpful, because it does not show the maze layout or the remaining pills you can spend a lot of time searching around for the few that are left. On early casual plays, this can get quite frustrating, but if you take some time with the game and learn the layout of the maze, I would imagine it becomes easier. Practice makes perfect, I guess! Key response is another aera that could be improved, as sometimes the keyboard did not respond, and this made navigation occasionally confusing.

This run was made on the 12th April 2026. The game was played on an Oric Atmos 48K using the Oricutron emulator. The highest skill level was selected using the Niveau bar. The final score was 1,270 points.
