Mission is an isometric arcade-adventure game for the Thomson TO8 and MO6 series of computers. It will not run on the earlier TO7 and MO5. It was released by Loriciels in 1987. The author is Pascal Jarry.

Mission is an unusual game. Your character has to enter a robotised factory in search of an agent who has stolen the plans for the MEGATRON bomb. There are eighty rooms to explore, and your character is equipped with both a defensive suit and a helmet mounted laser. Each room has one entrance and one exit, and the aim of the game is to cross each room safely. A room will almost certainly have active robots in it. Some of these will ignore you and others will pursue you. All will damage your health and if it reaches zero it is game over. You can shoot them with your laser, but this only stuns them for several seconds. Some rooms contain power ups for your suit or laser but be careful not to shoot them or let the robots get to them before you do - if that happens, they will be destroyed.

Each room is a sort of puzzle, where you have to determine the best path to the next room. Going back to earlier rooms does not really have any value (though you can do it if you want to). Initially the game looks appealing and is quite impressive technically for the Thomson (though it is for the second generation machine and later only). However, the attractive presentation fades after a while as gameplay can become repetitive, and the isometric view is not always clear about how you are lined up walkways or robots you are trying to shoot. I do like the various posters on the walls though, especially the one for Bob Winner!

Despite the nice graphics, sound is sparse in-game, and the gameplay itself is ultimately lacking in long term depth. The various screens are limited to a small amount of variety after a while. There is a nice tune on the title screen though and the animation on your little character is lovely - he's very cute when he drops down a level for example.

An interesting technical achievement and intriguing to play for a while, but I don't think it would keep you engaged for a very long time.

This run was made on the 15th March 2026. The game has no skill levels and was played on a Thomson TO8, using the DCMOTO emulator. There are no skill levels and the final score was 5,626 points.
