I heard the Amiga version was 'Average', which effectively makes it by far the best!

Crazy Cars is a racing game for the Thomson TO range of home computers. The game was reported written by Eric Caen. It was released by Titus in 1987. In this video it is running on a Thomson TO8.
This is a very simple and not very good racing game. The graphics are decently large and move.....ok. This is an 8 bit machine after all with its roots in 1982. The appearance is very like the ZX Spectrum. You have to race along a series of tracks and make it to the next check-point in time. If you fail, its Game Over! All standard fare for this sort of game. If you make it through enough stages, you go to the next level and your car transforms into another design. It seems a little better performing perhaps.
Unfortunately, the game is let down by a few things that ruin any chance of an entertaining time. Firstly, you can only use one key at a time. That means you cannot turn and accelerate or brake at the same time. So what are you supposed to do when you need to slow down and turn for a corner at the same time? You'll probably crash of course. It is also almost impossible to overtake. I managed one overtake in all the time I tried this game, and it features at the end of this run. The cars are not responsive enough (see the controls again) and the opposing cars seem determined to block your path leaving you no way through. I know it doesn't move particularly fast or smoothly, but that could have been forgiven somewhat if the controls and gameplay had been better and fairer. I managed to clear the first level by keeping behind the next car in front - there was just enough speed to make it to the end of each stage.
Feels like a missed opportunity to make a reasonable racing game for the Thomson here, which is a shame.
