No use of trainers, cheats, saved game files, auto-fire (when not default present in-game), emulator save states, or other emulator advantages. No use of code modifications that give the player an advantage over other players. 1 player only. No continues.

Due to the unusual placement of some keys on the Acorn Atom keyboard, it is acceptable to redefine the keys used under emulation.

It is discouraged and may lead to voters not accepting your score to
- excessively point farm
- use glitches or other game exploits

You probably noticed that I haven't been here for the last few months... Well, I had some personal problems in the family... More specifically, my mother had a stroke, so me and my whole family were preoccupied with her treatment and recovery... I hope everything is OK with you and I'm glad to see that you're still here and active... I hope that soon when the situation settles down a bit, I'll be able to get back to my favorite hobby: playing retro games!!! Greetings, see you soon!!!

Fizzle Bricks is a Progressive Breakout game for the Acorn Atom. It was released by Pro Software, a Welsh company operating from Port Talbot. I don't know which year the game was released, but an advert appears on page 71 of the August 1982 issue of Personal Computing Today.

This is a straightforward game of breakout, which features only the mode known as "Progressive". This is the one where the bricks slowly move down the screen. You lose a life if you miss a ball and it is game over if the bricks reach the bottom of the screen. The game features 10 skill levels from 0 (Slowest and easiest) to 9 (fastest and you won't last long!).

It's ok as a game. It doesn't bring anything new or exciting to the table, but it is a very competent version of the game for the Atom, though obviously it is very dated in 2025. Skill level 0 is very slow - the bricks progress down the screen at a glacial rate and there is often little to do. Skill level 9 is very fast and you will find it impossible to stop the bricks reaching the bottom in seconds. Skill level 5 is about right if you want a decent game of Breakout.

This run was made on the 9th November 2025. Skill level 9 (Fastest) was chosen, and the final score was 670 points.

Time Stamps:
00:30 Skill level selection - 9 chosen, the fastest setting and almost impossible to survive for long.
00:34 Game start.
01:10 Bricks reach the bottom of the screen. Game Over! Final score 670 points.
