Battlot is an eighties style arcade game from Inufuto. This version is for the Oric 48K and was released in September 2022. The program was written by Inufuto as part of a multiplatform project that uses a common format for producing the games and a machine specific interpreter/library for making the main program run on that specific machine.

This game has a similar feel and game mechanic to Namco's 1980 game Tank Battalion. Both your and your computer controlled opponent have to destroy the oppositions base. The playfield is a maze, with walls that can usually be destroyed, although there are also types that cannot be damaged. To get to the enemy base you can either follow the pathways or blast away to create your own. The computer will send out troops to attack your base, while at the same time you, on your own, try to destroy theirs. If your base is destroyed, then you lose a life. Being shot by one of the opposing troops does not cost you a life, but your trooper is destroyed and a new one spawns at your base, which is unable to move for a few seconds. There is a countdown timer on each level so time does matter. Additionally, not being able to move means your opponents troopers have unhindered access to your base.

Battlot is a fun game, and in my opinion one of the best in the Inufuto range. I really enjoyed my time with this one. I've played a few games of this type on old systems (Tanks a Lot on the Arcadia 2001 springs to mind) and this one adds to that group nicely. It's easy to get into, but also some of the levels can be tricky. Stage 9 is one to watch out for because there are no walls at all and if you are not careful, you can get yourself stun-locked at your base and then it is Game Over!

This run was made on the 30th June 2025 using the Oricutron emulator on PC. There are no adjustable skill levels and the final score was 9,470.
