Super Meteors is a 1983 Asteroids-clone arcade game from Softek. It was written by Gordon Russell who also wrote Softek's Galaxians for the Oric. Later moving to the Commodore 64, he wrote Zoids for Softek.
This is exactly what you would expect for an Asteroids game, except the asteroids themselves are not in vector format and are quite small, even at their large size. That doesn't matter though, as this is a busy game. Blast all the asteroids to get to the next level and don't get shot by the UFO. Controls and movement are good - left, right, thrust, fire and shield are all well placed and responsive. The movement of the graphics is mostly smooth, although there is the occasional flicker - which is pretty good considering how much can be on-screen at once. Sound is generally satisfactory, and the UFO sound is spot on.
This is a good version of Asteroids for the Oric and a recommended play.
This game was played using the Oricutron emulator on PC. The date of play was the 8th December 2024. There are no skill levels, and the final score was 9,750 points.
