AntiAir is a Space Invaders-like vertical shooter game for the Oric released in April 2024. The program was written by Inufuto as part of a multiplatform project that uses a common format for producing the games and a machine specific interpreter/library for making the main program run on that specific machine.

AntiAir is similar to Space Invaders in playstyle. Your missile base must destroy waves of Invaders that float above you. Unlike Space Invaders, they do not descend but instead try to destroy you from above by various means. The Invaders can drop three types of objects, which they do at random or when destroyed. The first is a block. This cannot be shot and will stop your movement beyond it. It is quite possible to get hemmed in by blocks and then you are in trouble.

The other two types of drop are both of a more offensive nature (quite literally). The first is a missile which explodes on contact with the ground. If you are too close, you will lose a life. These can also destroy the blocks. The second type of drop is a time bomb. Similar to the missile, this can destroy you and the blocks, but there is a short delay before it explodes once it reaches the ground.

This game might seem easy, but it isn't quite as simple as it looks. The blocks really keep you on your toes as they are every bit as deadly as the missiles and bombs. Tactical gameplay is rewarded by timing shots so that the missiles and bombs take out the blocks before you get trapped.

Another simple, but fun, arcade game from the Inufuto library with a very 1980s feel to it. A very nostalgic game, even if it came 40 years after the period it really belongs in!

This run was made on the 7th December 2024 using the Oricutron emulator on PC. The final score was 7,460.
