TGP
GP World is arcade racing game for the Sega SG-1000 console. It was released by Sega in 1985 as a 32K cartridge.
Your aim is to race your Formula 1 car around the tracks of the World - there are ten tracks in all. Each race is two laps and you have to beat the Qualifying time for each track to progress to the next. As well as setting lap records, you also score points for driving and passing other cars. There are three skill levels to pick from at the start and the game includes a track editor.
I quite like this game. It's a bit like Hang-On, but with greater variety of tracks and a 'mission' element as you try to clear each countries tracks. The game formed the basis for the much upgraded version for the Sega Master System, called World Grand Prix.
This run was made on the 12th May 2024, using Kega Fusion v3.64. Level 1 was selected, and there is only one track in the run. This is Canada and the time set was 91'4.
Time stamps:
00:30 Title screen and Level 1 selected.
00:32 Game start. Canada.
02:10 Race complete. Time for Canada - 91:4 seconds.
