Breakout is an arcade game for the Sinclair QL with it's origins in the original Breakout arcade game. I'm not sure of any other details as I have not been able to tie it down yet.
Use your bat to bash the ball against the bricks for points. The wall descends during play, so this is the 'Progressive' style of gameplay. There do not appear to be any options other than 1 or 2 player.
I found this a hard version of Breakout, though with practice you can last a while. The controls take a little getting used to - left and right is obvious, but there is also a speed button for traversing the screen faster when needed. Very useful - in fact, essential! Your bat is also a little on the small side which adds to the difficulty.
A perfectly serviceable version of the classic game, neither outstanding or dreadful in any way.
This run was made on the 5th May 2024. The emulator is Pantheon, running on PC. There are no skill levels and the final score was 229 points.
Time stamps:
00:30 Main menu screen.
00:34 Game start.
01:14 First life lost.
01:50 Second life lost.
02:25 Third life lost.
03:47 Fourth life lost. Game Over! Final score 229 points.
