Air-Sea Battle was one of the launch titles for the Atari VCS (later known as the Atari 2600) in 1977. This was also a game I had when I had my Atari VCS, in fact I think it was the second cartridge I got after the included pack-in title, Combat.

The game is a compilation of shooting-gallery style games, based on land, sea and air - and also a circus themed mode for a bit of more light hearted action. There are 27 variations of game, of 6 basic types:

- Anti-Aircraft
- Torpedo
- Shooting Gallery
- Polaris
- Bomber
- Polaris vs Bomber

The cartridge was programmed by Larry Kaplan, who also programmed Combat and Kaboom! on the VCS.

The game played here is Game 4, which is an Anti-Aircraft game with unguided bullets and blimps which get in the way. The left gun is not used in this run. I am using the gun on the right which has three angles it can fire from. Targets score from 0 to 4 points depending on what they are. The difficulty is set to B, the larger projectile, making the game easier. The game ends when either player gets to 99 or the timer runs out after 2 minutes, 16 seconds.

This run was played using the Steam version of Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration on PC. The date of play was the 16th July 2023. The final score was 82 points.

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is just that, a celebration of 50 years of Atari. Although there have been many Atari game compilations over the years, this one is the best yet, lovingly put together with many documents and features within it. It's like visiting an interactive museum.

Time stamps:
00:30 Setting game options. The game variation is set to 4 at 00:33 and the right difficulty is set to B (Player 2: Large Missiles) at 00:38.
00:46 Game start. Improved the sound compared to my 4A run, but it is still quiet.
02:45 Score starts to flash - there are only 16 seconds of gameplay left.
03:03 Time up! Game Over. Final score 82 points.
