Tempest is a 1981 game from Atari in the vector-graphics style. It was created by Dave Theurer (Missile Command and I, Robot).
The aim of the game is to destroy the various 'things' that are climbing from the distance towards you along the grid. These things have various attack types and attributes. It's all very frantic and also quite satisfying to clear a level. You are warped to the next level after completing each one - look out for any left-over spikes!
This run was played using the Steam version of Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration on PC. The date of play was the 16th April 2023. The final score was 13,858 points.
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is just that, a celebration of 50 years of Atari. Although there have been many Atari game compilations over the years, this one is the best yet, lovingly put together with many documents and features within it. It's like visiting an interactive museum.
