That's ok to use the warps. During the Mame tournament on CAG everyone did it, including me. See Mame scores

Note: ISB also took both warps "PS2 lead"
Note: Gibgirl did not take the warps "GameCube lead"
Note: ISB did the warps in the Arcade "emulated arcade leader" ..
So perhaps these huge Bonus Warps are cool after all..
Unlike Defender II "which is actually somewhat of a challenge to get the bonus warp,.. Toobin's bonus warps are easy to do, only guarded by 1 obstacle that can be shot out of the way.
It makes playing through all of the 1st stage pointless, if going for fast huge points just look for the warp.
As far as KLAX, I did not take the warps, as they are not within the stage but instead selectable at the start and every so many stages. If I took them my Klax score would be much larger. That may be allowed as well.. but I can also see as a seperate variation as again it makes playing from the beginning pointless..
I may be wrong.. but even if a pro starts from the beginning and doesn't take a single warp and gets as many points as possible, I think he'd still be at a disadvantage of the warpers. Just because of the ridiculous amount of points you get for each warp.
