Breakout was released to the arcades in 1976. The game was developed by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, following an idea from Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow.
Use your ball to demolish a wall of bricks. The cabinet artwork depicts some prisoners, so presumably you are trying to escape your cell! The game offers both 3 and 5 ball variations, selectable by DIP switches in the menu.
This run was played using the Steam version of Atari 50: The Annivesary Celebration on PC. The date of play was the 9th April 2023. The final score was 49.
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is just that, a celebration of 50 years of Atari. Although there have been many Atari game compilations over the years, this one is the best yet, lovingly put together with many documents and features within it. It's like visiting an interactive museum.
