Maze Invaders is an unreleased 1981 game from Atari. It was written by Ed Logg (Asteroids, Centipede and Gauntlet amongst other). I don't know why it was not released, but the most likely reason was poor reception in field tests. This was a common fate back in the late 70s and early 80s when machines were so expensive. If the test machines failed to pick up enough coins from punters, a production run would often not go ahead.
Fortunately the code has survived and the game is available to play via emulation, as here in Atari Vault.
This run was played using the Steam version of Atari Vault on PC. The date of play was the 1st April 2023.
