I've only played the Atari 2600 and 5200 versions. Both are good, I'm guessing all versions are good! "From what I've seen"
But game B on the 2600 is the easiest to start with because it takes away all the red enemies. That's what helped me learn the game, since that's what I first started playing. It lets you focus more on the puzzle of getting all the colors the same without having to dodge so many enemies.

Tip is to use the Dpad like an × rather than a + .. as the game moves in diagnal directions. I actually tilt the controller. The options for the manual recommends tilting the joystick for same reason.
Since controllers only have 4 inputs it would be risky to hit up left for a diagnal, so instead they did it this way.
