Donkey Kong on the VIC-20 is a very nice version of the game for the machine. Released by Atarisoft late in 1983 on cartridge, it was written by Jim Stozenfield. Sadly, I haven't found any more references to this gentleman producing any other games, which is a shame as he could clearly program the VIC very well.
The game contains all four screens from the original, although they are jumbled up (something that happened on several versions of the game). The game is well programmed with smooth movement. My only issue was the joystick control being a bit too smooth, leading to me missing tight transitions from platforms to ladders - or sometimes using a ladder when I never intended to. This took most of my lives during my gametime. Other than that minor gripe, the game is excellent and a recommended play.
This run was played using WinVICE, on the 18th December 2022. It was played using the NTSC / 60 fps setup. The score reached was 27,000 points.
