It's autofire by default, but you can still tap faster than it shoots, so it can be best to button mash in tight spots.
Unless you have the machine gun on the roof, that fires quicker..
Or unless you're trying to get the multiplier up from accuracy.
Each no miss can add up to x10, which I try to keep in the beginning.
The special mounted roof guns don't take away from that. So if you get it up to x10 with the standard shot, missing targets with the special weapons won't count against you. The multiplier only decreases when you miss with the standard gun.
