With some racing games, the most intense part may not be the speed, but rather the slowing down from the speed.

A similarity between this and the great Gran Turismo.

Some turns, no matter how good you angle, require letting off the accelerator.

What helps me get into these games is pretending it's real.

You wouldn't drive a racetrack with the foot down the entire race. Pretend if you hit the wall you're dead.

A friend of mine sucked at Gran Turismo. He would just hold the gas and never let up.. When I told him to pretend it was real, he began using the brake and it clicked.
The fear invoking speed.

"But I won't lie, he still liked NFS Underground better on is GameCube than Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2" 🌆

I miss my DeLorean! The save corrupted anyway.. a terrible defect with GT4 sadly..

Where was I...

The Mercedes CLK GTR is a magic machine. Brakes are rarely required with its insanely good handling. But in Hometown there are 2 turns where I still let up on the gas "on a perfect ideal race" .. I still ain't pro so sometimes I let off more out of fear.

The beast must be harnessed.

In the original R&T NFS "Road&Track"
There's specific videos for each ride with braking stats as a way to shown off capability.
Slamming the brakes before the turn is fun.

That reminds me there's another 32 bit racer by a car magazine. It's CAR & DRIVER Grand Tour Racing.

They must have saw the success of Road & Track's NFS series and decided to get in on that video game action 💥.

It's at my local gamestore for 4 bucks. Gameplay footage looks fun but not as good. But I'll have to give that Activision title a try someday.

How that for some text on a two lap race.

Have a great day!
