Just for the record. NFS III is better than TEST DRIVE 5.
But TD5 does have San Fransisco hills, and the crazy fast car I have unlocked goes so fast it can't be controlled. Which is actually a plus somehow. I like games that punish.
But physics and stage design NFS III is in another league. All the cars feel different and the inside view is nice.
Lots of racers feel better with the outside view, but the few like the old NFS and Gran Turismo, even Ridge Racer, I play better with the inside view.

NFS III tip - air does not = speed
If you can make the turn to where the wheels don't lift, youl keep the traction needed for Speed.
This track does have 1 un-avoidable jump. The track bio recommends watching your speed on this section, and I can see why.
The more air you get the harder you slam down.
The harder you slam down the more speed you lose..
I don't believe this was transferred over to the newer NFS games where getting your wheels off the ground is encouraged with cinematic slow mo.
In these classic NFS games like what I'm playing, the car is very heavy, and the last thing you wanna do is catch air. It happens though and it is fun, but it costs you time.
I love these games because they're old style which leads to an arcade feel, but they try to be somewhat realistic and penalize you hard. I'm at the point on Hometown where if I scrape the wall it's time to restart.
This game "including this course" has a few off road spots that appear as short cuts, but there's no use in taking them because they will ALWAYS slow you down, even if you don't crash.
In the original NFS a tire off the pavement will cut your speed down quick. Sometimes it will even slow you with an invisible barrier just to encourage you to stay on the road.. That was a bit strict.. In NFS III at least the leaves on the side won't slow you, the road is always a bit wider than it appears.
