Up and Down for shifting works well on my Sega 3 button.
For instance my iNNEXT 3rd party brand I constantly hit the down key by accident. That really doesn't happen on the big ol 3 B.

Those candy canes really slow you down in this one. I can see why that was changed for the sequel. 🍬
