Speedway is a simple arcade racing game for the Philips Videopac G7000 Videopac / Magnavox Odyssey 2 home console. It was known as Speedway in the USA and Race in Europe. It was released in 1978 as part of a compilation cartridge of Speedway / Spin-Out / Cryptologic (USA) or Race / Spin-Out / Cryptogram (Europe). This cartridge was typically the pack-in cartridge for the console.

This is a very simple race game. You have an overhead view of the road and must drive your car down it while avoiding the other cars. You can move left and right, as well as accelerate or decelerate. If you collide with another car, you crash and there is a short delay before you can get going again. You can crash as many times as you like, but there is time limit of two minutes, during which you must try to score as many points as possible.

The game is very simple indeed, but this was 1978 after all. There are two skill levels, with level 2 being faster and harder than level 1. Other than that, there is not much more to say.

This run was made on the 1st February 2025. Skill 1 was selected and the final score was 2,358 points.
